Thank you for a beautifully written research, and for sharing it with all of us. Patricia
I find this to be most interesting. My maiden name was Cole. As far back as I have gone it is British and spelled the same way. Thanks
Hi
I am researching our farm Llys Nini on the Glamorgan / Carmarthenshire border, meaning Nini's Court.
I believe that Nini was Eninni or Enyny possible daught or sister of Urien Rheged, who settled here around 490 - 500 AD. I found your site very interesting - could you share your sources please? Particularly about South Rheged, Pasgen lord of Gower (Gwyr).
Diolch yn fawr iawn.
Sally
Just thought I'd let you know, for a bit of fun, that Old King Cole was my great (x46) grandfather.

I Found This Site Really Helpful,You Deserve Half Of My History Grade ! (5a)
Very informative! I'm researching my genealogy for Howel, descendant of Meurig Vychan, Lord of Nannau and found much of your information to be quite useful! Thank you so very much for all your hard work!
Great site, ive been on here hours just enjoying your enthusiasm. i am currently researching for a novel on Heledd from the Canu Heledd.
well done,
Judith
Great site, stumbled across it by accident after googling Kynaston - Katherine Kynaston married John Derwas. Katherine is a descendant from Joyce Blodwell, Blodwell being my one-named study. Hope you don't mind me keeping this as a favouite as you have so much fascinating history on here that I'd like to take my time to read.
Amazing site found by chance.Although I am descended through De La Poles, Le Strange, Llewellyn Fawr and other Welsh princes it is via the Nannau folk here that I have a special interest .I have one set of gt gparents Parry/Morris who hail fromTalyllyn/Llanerfyl where I am well and truly stuck. Surely these humble sawyers who migrated to the Midlands dont tie in to the others ? who knows.Well done to the site owner
- proud to say I now live in Wales.
Wow, what am impressive site! I stumbled across itself while looking for info on Owain Glendwr, and was quite happy to find the Lords of Nannau. My grandfather was a Yancey; oral history says his family was Nanney from Nannau. We can't find any written proof, and are hoping for DNA proof to connect us to Nannau, but nothing so far. I visited Nannau about 5 years ago, and felt something spiritual on the Precipice Walk. It all seemed so familiar. Too bad feelings don't count. Anyway, thanks for the wonderful website, I will continue to mine it for information as I have time. And I now aspire to a similiar site for my years of family research. Thanks,
Brenda
I went to Deytheur Grammar School in 1954-1956 it was then run by a man called Flynn and his brother and a teacher by the name of O'Sullivan. Is the school still there and what is its use today any photo would be appreciated.
Trying to read into Welsh history is to say the least very intriguing. possibly distorted over time to favour English superiority?
Anyway, as for Pengwern - I believe it would have been 'just' south (possibly south-west) of where Maesbury is now. due to its 'marshy' areas and its once river/stream networks. Just my theory!!!
Thanks for the obvious hard work getting this all together. I am a descendant of Griffith Bowen who came to America 1639, from Llanguenith, Wales, later returned to England and Wales, leaving some family here. Got to visit there about 5 years ago and think it is a wonderful, magical place!
